Software Implementation Support
An energy start-up in California had chosen a Product Data Management (PDM) system and was working with the provider on implementation. However, there were a lot of process related questions that needed to be answered. The team had ideas on what they wanted but sought Sapperton’s support to understand industry best practices and avoid any possible unintended consequences of the choices. The types of questions included item numbering, folder structures, compatibility with future enterprise software implementations, approval workflows, engineering change best practices and more. We provided their team with a detailed recommendations report, walking them through the pros and cons of each potential choice and ultimately set them on the path of modern, efficient processes that wouldn’t hinder their growth. With our support, their team could confidently move ahead with their decisions, putting an end to debates.
Supplier Issue Tracker in SharePoint with automation

Process overhaul and automation
A university professor asked for support to automate the communications for their intern program course. The system requirements were as follows:
- Onboarding for multiple professors across different departments, the students, and the internship companies.
- The system also needed to automate and manage the ongoing communications and approval of internship hours, escalation concerns and noncompliance triggers.
Sapperton built a program that leveraged their existing Microsoft SharePoint site, The new program automated the contact information data management, facilitated email communications between the professors, students, and supervisors, tracked the weekly internship submission records, and reported the critical information to the professors for management.
The entire program, scoping to implementation, took Sapperton under two weeks.
The automation eliminated the need to send an average of 96 emails per week, saving the professors and the internship supervisors 100% of their manual communications per semester. Sapperton also provided training on the tool so the professors could troubleshoot any issues, and self manage future changes and improvements internally and cost effectively.
